Retired Advanced Sales Attorney and Financial Planner

Richard is a retired advanced sales attorney and financial planner with more than 40 years of legal experience in financial, estate, business and benefits planning. Prior to his retirement in October 2016, he was a Corporate Vice President for The Nautilus Group®, a service of New York Life Insurance Company, in Dallas, TX. Before his service at The Nautilus Group®, he owned and operated a financial planning practice in Greensboro, NC, having previously served as Assistant Vice President of Advanced Sales for Jefferson Pilot Life Insurance Company, and later Lincoln Financial, in Greensboro, NC; Executive Director of Advanced Underwriting for General American Life Insurance Company in St. Louis, MO; Executive Director of Salary Deferral Programs for Paragon Life Insurance Company; and owner of Advantage Publishers, where he published a monthly estate and business planning electronic newsletter for use by insurance companies, agents, and attorneys.

Richard is admitted to practice law in Missouri and is a member of the Missouri Bar Association. He has served on an Estate Planning Task Force for the Million Dollar Round Table and as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Financial Service Professionals.

Richard has written numerous articles and pamphlets on estate planning, taxation, life insurance and financial planning, including articles published in the Journal of Financial Service Professionals, National Underwriter, The Wealth Channel, and the American Bar Association’s Probate and Property magazine. He also has co-authored two books on non-qualified deferred compensation and the BNA Tax Management Portfolios 386 and 828 on Insurance-Related Compensation. He is also the author of Documents on Disk published by InsMark, Inc.  As an experienced speaker and seminar leader, he has made numerous presentations on a variety of insurance, estate, business, charitable and retirement planning topics.
