Joe Stachnik

Joe Stachnik is a Principal in the Credits and Incentives practice with Ryan, the largest Firm in the world dedicated exclusively to business taxes. Serving in Ryan’s Chicago office, Joe has focused on tax credits/business incentives, income/franchise taxation, property taxes, and site selection in both the public and private sectors. 

For more than 20 years, Joe has negotiated more than $4 billion of incentives for companies in a variety of industries. Joe specializes in international, federal, state, and local business incentives; site selection; incentive negotiations; tax legislation; and public financing. He has assisted Fortune 500 companies, middle-market firms, and municipalities in the banking, manufacturing, mining, retail, information technology, healthcare, private equity, and insurance sectors.

Joe also has extensive experience with statutory tax credit lookback studies, income/franchise state tax issues, economic modeling, and advising on the strategic business issues related to corporate restructurings and credits and incentives.

An expert in his field, Joe has taught as a professor for leading Chicago-area universities, including Concordia-Chicago, Northwestern, and Loyola-Chicago. A valued educator, he has taught advanced courses on accounting; business law; and state, local, federal, and international tax. Joe lectures and writes articles for numerous organizations and publications. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar and U.S. District Court of Northern Illinois.
