Chris Potter

Christopher Potter is a Director at Ryan with more than 13 years of experience in state and local sales and use tax. He specializes in providing domestic transaction tax research and consulting services to clients across various industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and technology. Prior to joining Ryan, Chris held positions with a national accounting firm and a transaction tax software company. Chris had previously served as a Senior Tax Counsel for a national software company where he supported sales and use tax content and value-added tax (VAT) content for multiple tax calculation and compliance software programs used by domestic and international corporations. He also performed legal research for state sales and use tax issues, including nexus, situs, drop-shipment transactions, tax exempt entities, and taxability of goods and services. Chris received his Master of Laws in Taxation degree from the Boston University School of Law Graduate Tax Program, a Juris Doctor degree from New England School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the College of the Holy Cross. He is a member of the Massachusetts State Bar and admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
